Maso Corto – surrounded by majestic 3-thousand peaks in the main alpine chain. The village is located at the end of the beautiful Val Senales valley, which is one of the mountain valleys of the Merano region, leading to the main ridge of the Alps. The Austrian-Italian border runs through this ridge. Characterized by the Tyrolean order and Italian temperament, it is an ideal base for enthusiasts of alpine skiing.
We will traverse the ice trails in the footsteps of Ötzi – the ice man, explore the virgin valleys, see the rising sun over the Dolomites. The whole will be watched by International Mountain Guides, who will share their knowledge and experience in the high mountains with their habits, as well as conduct avalanche training and “ABC” of moving in mountain terrain in winter conditions.
The activity is intended for people willing to start the adventure with skituring as well as for enthusiasts of this sport. Those interested should possess a good physical condition and have ski skills allowing for off-season riding in the field up to 30 degrees of inclination.
Departure from Poland at 7 am. Arriving in Maso Corto (2011 m a.s.l.) is planned for 7 p.m. On the route, a stop in a supermarket for people wanting to prepare their own meals (breakfasts, dinners). Presentation of the rental and selection of equipment. Welcome drink and slide presentation about the region along with cheese, ham and wine degustation. Discussing the trip program.
Acclimatization and off-route training. Skitour First - trip to the Lazaun Shelter (2430 a.s.l.) will be an excellent opportunity to get to know the "ABC" of walking in the mountain terrain in winter conditions on skis. In the evening, an outdoor bonfire with a glass of mulled wine. Active time: approx. 5 h, total approach approx. 500 meters.
Acclimatization trip to the nerby passes in the Langgrubtalfossalunga Valley to the altitude 2800-3000m a.s.l. During the trip we will get to know the technical aspect of moving on skitours. Assault food on the route. Active time: approx. 6 h, total approach approx. 800-1000 meters.
Transfer to the Val di Fiemme, to the area of the Latemar ski resort, considered as the wildest area of the region. During regeneration tour, we will have the opportunity to admire one of the most beautiful rock formations, which are Dolomites. Stop in Predazzo on the way back. Active time: approx. 5 h, total approach approx. 500 meters.
The trip starts with a gondola lift to Grawand (the upper station at an altitude of 3212 m a.s.l.). The route passes through the Hochjochferner glacier, lying between Val Senales on the Italian side and the Austrian Venter Tal valley in the Ötztal Alps. We reach to 3200 m a.s.l. the Tisenjoch pass, where in 1991 a man from the ice named Ötzi was found. Excursion food on the route. Trip time: approx. 8 h, total approach about 600 meters (the majority of the route at the height of over 3000 meters, moving around the glacier). Concluding dinner.
Transfer to the Val Martello valley, stretching for 30 km in the Dello Stevio National Park. We approach the Rifugio Martello at 2610m a.s.l., from where we can admire fantastic panorama of the Rhaetian Alps with the Ortler, its highest peak (3905 m a.s.l.).Lunch at the shelter. Active time: approx. 5 h, total approach approx. 700 meters
Departure to Poland in the morning. Planned return around 20:00.
